Our reality is fiction - what do the media build around us?

Image
The world is huge, full of people scattered everywhere, even in distant places. Still, it is our pleasure to know and learn what happens throughout the globe, be it in the near city or in the farthest continent across two oceans. How do we manage so? 1) here  news were altered to cover the responsibilities  of the US Administration - in particular of the  then Secreatery of State   Hillary Clinton The answer is that we get news. We read them, we hear them, we see them. Nowadays information is pervasive and goes all around very fast. And yet, is such information objective? Are we seeing the world as it truly is, or is the image we get somehow distorted? Of course, when someone else is making you see through their eyes, when someone is speaking news to you, the information is subject to changes. It is like light passing through a set of lenses, it gets deformed, maybe filtered. It is one of the issues we encounter whenever we try ...

The crisis of democracy - why your choices matter not

Image
Let me begin today with a few questions. Are you satisfied with contemporary politic? Do you think politicians do enough in the best interest of citizens, are they doing enough to defend your rights? Then, why don't we change your vote? Why won't we elect someone more effective, more honest, more in line with what we ask from our government? Truth is that we already do that, many times. And yet, little actually changes. Why is it so? What is able to neutralize the impact of our choices and ultimately make them irrelevant? We live in time of crisis and excess, each of them aliments the other. Our society is becoming more rigid, less liberal. We are suffocating ourselves with pervasive burocracy, oppressing taxation, misregulated welfare,  and so on. We are witnessing the transformation of our society, from a State serving its people to people serving their State. Now, the balance between the State's collective interests and the fundamental freedoms of each in...

Of limited resources and political arrogance - where the foundations of our society are wrong

Image
Progress is what we always wish for. We spend our lives looking for that, and we are doing a fair good job if we consider what we are collecting and employing. We are producing more and more, from food to high technology. Internet is more widespread than ever and communication surely should bring mutual understanding between people. And yet, we can perceive that our society's progress is struggling. Worse, we are taking some steps back and these are not good signs at all. We have to be anxious about our economy's state, as we still are recovering from the 2008 crisis and we live in fear of another one. There are ongoing wars begun more than ten years ago, and the War on Terror is not very efficient in making us feel more safe from terrorists. The West, the leader of the rest of the world, as we like to see ourselves, has indeed lots of issues. Energetic crisis, immigration, overproduction, disoccupation, international tension and so on, are all problems deeply embedded w...

BlackGrowth - a blog on understated geopolitic, why and why now?

Image
Hi all. Welcome to BlackGrowth. It is called so because of the dark things and aspects developing out of our society, things and aspects I want to analyze and comment. My main thesis is that politic, society and psychology are deeply intertwined. They depend on each other and concur in molding the functioning of our world. I will mainly focus on how this relates to the geopolitical, economical and strategic issues we can observe at present (and near future) times. In parallel, I will treat how our world evolved such integrated mechanisms by evidencing fundamental parallelisms with other historical instances. I also have keen interests in other themes, such as bioetic, so by chance you may catch me divagating a bit. Life is hard. Briefly, my goal is to make this space our window on our contemporary geopolitical situation. See you soon.
