How to take on Russia via Syria - why did Russia become an obsession?

The Syrian Civil War ending... and then what? from https://buffalonews.com/2018/04/17/ the-briefing-why-syria-matters/ In Syria, the battle for Idlib - until now occupied by terrorists affiliated and related to Al-Qaeda - is imminent. Other territories controlled by rebels - 'moderate' or not - are few and isolated. Kurds are negotiating with Assad and will likely see recognized part of the autonomy they ask, if Syria territorial integrity will be reconstituted. All in all, the war in Syria is coming to its conclusion - and the USA-led Coalition can't do much to hinder that, as we prefigured . So, is it almost done? Or do we have to expect other crisis and possibly escalations before we can call the conflict off? Of course, in a future perspective, one major issue will be Israel attitude - along with the ones of Saudi Arabia and Turkey on the backsides. Relationships between Israel and Syria will be difficult to normalize without finding a compromise over th...

The cards on the table for Syria - nice missiles a-comin'!

The situation around Syria is evolving in seemingly contradictory ways.     Following, I will speculate on why. Trump: shout loud, shoot blanks Let us start by looking at Trump: from 'America first' he apparently came to Obama's position 'don't Assad cross the red - chemical - line'. The red line was supposedly crossed at Khan Sheikhoun in 2017 and Trump answered 1 . Now we are oriented to the same direction. A chemical attack in Syria - no matter how dubious - is still a pretest for a military retalation. Trump is outlining his actual answers as roboant public declarations followed by pirotecnic - yet strategically useless - demonstrations of strength. It is thus evident that Trump is trying to appease 'interventists' and yet to prevent an escalation in Syria.  How can Trump prevent such an escalation? Besides him, the politic of the USA in the region in the last years has been focused on Assad's removal and on a regime...

How and why the West supports Muslim extremists – a double-edge sword

Image
First of all, happy New Year everyone.     Unfortunately, we closed our 2017 fearing terror attacks. It has not been the first year this happens.     Then let us ask ourselves: are Muslim extremists a threat?     The honest answer is yes .     After the 9/11/2001, in theory the War on Terror was an attempt to answer some of the actions they inspired and carried out.      However, the War lead to even more instability in the Middle East and in the world at large.     Something did not work out. How? Why?     Was - and is - the West really serious and dedicated to fight and counter Muslim extremists? Muslim integralists' communities in Western cities First, let's consider what happens in our own cities. There are many communities inspired to fundamentalist teachings of the Quran all through Western countries. These communities are tolerated to varying degrees. They are Muslim enclaves in W...

Our reality is fiction - what do the media build around us?

Image
The world is huge, full of people scattered everywhere, even in distant places. Still, it is our pleasure to know and learn what happens throughout the globe, be it in the near city or in the farthest continent across two oceans. How do we manage so? 1) here  news were altered to cover the responsibilities  of the US Administration - in particular of the  then Secreatery of State   Hillary Clinton The answer is that we get news. We read them, we hear them, we see them. Nowadays information is pervasive and goes all around very fast. And yet, is such information objective? Are we seeing the world as it truly is, or is the image we get somehow distorted? Of course, when someone else is making you see through their eyes, when someone is speaking news to you, the information is subject to changes. It is like light passing through a set of lenses, it gets deformed, maybe filtered. It is one of the issues we encounter whenever we try ...
